Lincoln Memorial Garden has more than 150 active volunteers. These dedicated people do everything from leading nature hikes to helping with special events. The Garden is always looking for people who want to volunteer their time and talent in one of the following areas:
Volunteer Naturalists – These volunteers assist with school children who visit the Garden for field trips. Volunteers lead nature hikes for groups of 10-15 elementary age school children. Training programs are held seasonally. The greatest need for these people is usually on weekdays during spring and fall, however, occasional weekend help is needed.
Hosts/Hostesses – Spend a few hours greeting visitors and helping at the front desk. Occasional light office duties are included. Shifts are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. volunteer once a month or once a week, weekdays or weekends.
Special Events – Help out during special events throughout the year. These include Indian Summer Festival, Maple Syrup Time, night hikes, pancake breakfast, off site craft sales and more. Either work the day of the event or get involved in the planning process.
Grounds – Grounds volunteers are needed to assist with grounds projects. This may involve strenuous labor. We like to have these volunteers commit to a regular schedule so we can plan appropriate activities.
Special Skills – If you have a special skill that we may be able to use at the Garden let us know. People with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, woodworking or mechanical ability are needed. Professional assistance such as legal, accounting and graphic design also are needed on occasion.
